Successful Recycling and Launch of Trakref
Over the span of nearly two decades, our efforts led to the recycling of more than 30 million lbs of refrigerant, before pivoting in 2014 to launch Trakref, an innovative refrigerant management platform.
Ted Atwood's Leadership in Refrigerant Recycling
With a strong focus on minimizing refrigerant emissions and enhancing tracking for sustainability, the team acted as custodians of used refrigerant material.
Polar introduced the industry's first online refrigerant banking service in 2011. In 2015, they sold their reclaim business and used the funds to start Trakref, a software corporation specializing in regulatory and environmental compliance. This new venture drew from their past experiences and aimed to deliver global sustainability solutions.
In April 2023, Trakref was acquired by Fexa, marking a significant milestone for the company and sustainability efforts at large.
